Saxophone "Chop" Building: Scales and arpeggios for all saxophones
Saxophone "Chop" Building: Scales and arpeggios for all saxophones
Scales and arpeggios are the building blocks for woodwind technique. Not only are they the patterns that frequently occur in written music, but they are also the tools used to build technical facility or "chops". The exercises in this book are designed to do just that, increase the player's comfort in all 24 majors and minors and strengthen the player's chops.
In each key there is a full range scale, a scale in octaves based on modes, a scale in thirds, a tonic arpeggio and either a dominant 7th or diminished 7th arpeggios (for major or minor).
Saxophonist Billy McPhail has performed in venues around the country and internationally. He has performed as a member and soloist with many distinguished ensembles including the San Antonio Symphony, the University of Texas and Victoria College Wind Ensembles, and with conductors such as Mitch Miller, Jerry Junkin, and David Effron.
